City within a city begins to rise with official groundbreaking of Miami Worldcenter including PARAMOUNT

Exhilarating helicopter rides allowed guests to appreciate the breathtaking panoramic skyline and water views that 700-foot-high PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter will offer.

OneWorld Properties exclusive sales and marketing team members were ecstatic Thursday to don hard hats and grab shovels to help break ground for the PARAMOUNT tower and open-air retail component of Miami Worldcenter.

Supporters Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez and Commissioners Audrey Edmonson and Keon Hardemon, former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz and Miami Heat player Udonis Haslem were on hand for the momentous March 3rd occasion. Attendees celebrated with champagne and refreshments.

“The beacon of this world-class development will be PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter – a glistening glass tower rising 60 stories above the Miami skyline for all to see,” OneWorld CEO Peggy Fucci said.

“It is a testament to developer Dan Kodsi, who has expanded the PARAMOUNT brand and taken it to new heights with an unparalleled blend of cutting-edge offerings.”

Over his extensive career Kodsi has developed more than $1.2 billion in completed projects and has an additional $1 billion in developments under way.

“The PARAMOUNT brand was created out of a desire to offer more than what the most discerning buyer could ever ask for. My challenge has always been to deliver the unexpected, to surpass the world-class services and amenities that our international buyers came to expect and complement it with extraordinary design and the latest technology all the while providing a fun and secure environment,” Kodsi explained.

The sky deck is modeled after an Italian yacht. The tower will boast the largest amenity deck in the country with the first outdoor soccer fields in a high-rise residential development, tennis courts, boxing studio, jam room and chic resort-style pool with floating pods and bungalows.

Miami Worldcenter Associates master developers Art Falcone and Nitin Motwani, in collaboration with Centurion Partners and CIM Group as well as The Forbes Company and Taubman on the retail side, launched the transformation of the heart of downtown Miami into a city within a city, 13 years in the making.

In 2003, Falcone and Motwani began buying parcels of land in the urban core one by one, from 43 sellers in all, with a long-term vision of remaking Miami into America’s city of the future.

The 27-acre site will become one of the largest mixed-use developments in the United States. The 10 square blocks represent $2 billion in private sector investment.

“We’ve always been focused on the big picture – like what’s at stake in developing this site, the importance of linking the surrounding neighborhoods, how critical it is that we create local jobs, and the upgrades we can make at street level,” said Motwani, who thanked downtown stakeholders for their partnerships.

“We’re going to make Miami proud.”

Neighborhood improvements include upgraded streets, expanded sidewalks and improved vehicle and pedestrian flow between Biscayne Bay, Museum Park and American Airlines Arena and points to the west including Overtown and the Miami River.

By late 2018, PARAMOUNT residents will be able to move in and everyone will be able to use a pedestrian-only promenade north-south between NE 10th and 7th streets and east-west between NE 1st and 2nd avenues.

The path will link American Airlines Arena and Biscayne Bay to shops, restaurants and a plaza along NE 1st Avenue reminiscent of New York City’s Rockefeller Center that will host holiday tree lightings, concerts and farmers markets.

Almost 50 percent of PARAMOUNT’s 500-plus-residences have sold to buyers from over 30 countries, including China, Brazil, Venezuela, Turkey, Russia, Argentina and Colombia. OneWorld has sold more than $250 million worth of units.

“This is going to create a new level of excitement and we’re going to see our pace pick up,” Kodsi said.

“This project is really the first phase of a new era for the city.”

Miami Worldcenter will eventually also feature MDM Group’s 1,800-room Marriott Marquis hotel and 600,000-square-foot expo center; ZOM’s Luma, a 429-unit luxury apartment building; and two apartment towers built atop street-level retail lining NE 7th Street.

The development will link to the future All Aboard Florida high-speed rail terminal and existing Metromover. It is also located within walking distance of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Perez Art Museum of Miami and Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science under construction.

CoastalTishman, a joint venture between Miami-based Coastal Construction and New York-based Tishman Construction, is 80 percent done with the 150-foot-deep installation of the 400 massive pilings needed to support the striking glass-clad tower designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects in collaboration with PARAMOUNT Miami Worldcenter’s in-house design team.

Once the pilings are underground, CoastalTishman will begin building the horizontal foundation needed for vertical construction.

The groundbreaking garnered extensive media coverage from various outlets and heavy social media buzz. On March 3rd alone:
