Do your job the best way you can, whether it’s selling multimillion-dollar condominiums or cleaning floors.
“You do it with pride,” says OneWorld Properties President and CEO Peggy Fucci. “It makes such a big difference when you put an effort to do something the right way, not because just to get it done to make the money and walk out, because people notice. And I think that’s what gives and opens opportunities.”
She is one of six outstanding South Florida professionals who will be honored with the International Women’s Leadership Award by Suits, Stilettos and Lipstick, a national women’s empowerment and leadership organization of 4,000+ members.
Her fellow honorees are Kathleen Cannon, CEO of United Way-Broward; Capt. Patricia Cole (USN Retired), deputy director, Transition Center for Military Officers Association of America in Washington D.C.; Constance Jones, Emmy-nominated, award-winning news anchor/TV personality and reporter at WPLG-ABC Local 10 News in Miami; Dr. Traci Lynn, top direct selling expert and Founder/CEO of Traci Lynn Fashion Jewelry; and Mary Wong, president of Office Depot Foundation.
The fifth annual conference, themed “The SASSY Revolution: Dream It! Live It! Be It!,” will take place Sept. 9-10 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Blvd. Register at SSLwomen.com.
Peggy will share her inspiring story at 10:15 a.m. Friday to more than 1,000 attendees from around the globe.
After a difficult childhood in Lima, Peru, she arrived in Miami as a 17-year-old and started learning English. “I used to try to get any job I could,” she said. So she cleaned neighbors’ homes on Saturdays.
That’s not where she saw herself in five years but she said she knew that’s what she needed to do at that moment to get ahead. “Everything in life has a way of teaching you something,” she said.
She continued working hard as a bank teller, then found her passion in real estate sales and has become an acclaimed international real estate strategist and broker.
“I’m very proud of where I came from, what I’ve been through, what I’ve done,” Peggy said in a video interview with conference founder and Chief Inspiration Officer Dr. Elizabeth King, wellness expert, author and motivational speaker.
The keynote speakers are King; Lisa Oz, writer, producer, entrepreneur and current editor at large of the new Hearst magazine, Dr. Oz, The Good Life, and host of the Lisa Oz Show; Mark Sanborn, corporate leadership guru and author of the international bestseller “The Fred Factor.” Among the 23 noted speakers and panelists are Capt. Lee Rosbach, from Bravo’s “Below Deck” series, Dr. Lanalee Araba Sam, director of women’s health at Florida Medical Center, and Barb Schmidt, founder of Peaceful Mind Peaceful Life.
“There may be somebody out there who is at the brink of doing something and it’s something that someone will say at the conference that will really enlighten them to say, ‘Wow, I can do that,’ and just start a new path,” Peggy said.
Peggy, a mother of three, said her experiences have made her resilient and enabled her to move forward from mistakes.
“We feel better as women when we get up, no matter what’s happening, and you shower and you do your hair and you put great makeup and you put great high heels and a wonderful outfit,” she said.
“You just walk out the door and just pretend that your day is going on as normal. Because, guess what? Whatever you thought the problem was that you were dealing with I think that by tomorrow, every day gets a little bit better. But we just have to show up.”
