Fort Lauderdale Vice Mayor Ben Sorensen was pleased to attend the topping-off event.
“We’re going to be investing over $200 million into our stormwater service,” ele disse. “We’re going to be redoing all of Las Olas from Andrews here all the way to the beach, massive upgrades in terms of walkability, the landscaping, the streetscape, so now is the time to invest in Fort Lauderdale because it’s only going up.”
He also spoke of the partnership driving the city forward.
“For the first time ever we’ve had Broward County, the City of Fort Lauderdale, empresas, service providers address our homeless population,” ele disse, referring to a downtown encampment that was located just north of the museum.
“We moved all those folks into housing with case manager support,” he said to applause. “It’s doing it with compassion.”
